Christmas Eve and Christmas Brunch Dining in Manhattan

New York City has no scarcity of great restaurants offering special holiday meals for Christmas Eve or Christmas Brunch.

In the next two articles, we’ve gathered some of the best from this year’s crop.  Enjoy, and Merry Christmas.

Casa Nonna:

A traditional Roman and Tuscan holiday meal can be found at  Casa Nonna, with seafood and home-made pastas included in the restaurant’s four-course Christmas Eve ‘Feast of Seven Fishes.’ For a reasonable $42 per person, you’ll enjoy dishes such as Sicilian Swordfish and Pecorino Gratin of Stewed Mussels, as well as Grandma’s fabulous Budino di Pannetone, a distinctive twist on the Christmas Bread Pudding with sprinkles of caramel sauce and chestnut gelato.  www.e2hospitality.com.

Pera:

Live jazz will accompany the special Christmas prix fixe menu at this midtown Mediterranean brasserie.  The three-course menu includes such dishes as Urfa Biber Rubbed Prime Rib and Roasted Lamb, priced at $54 per person. One of the restaurant’s more unusual and delicious Turkish desserts, the Goat Cheese Cake with Armagnac prunes and candied orange zest, should not be missed.  In the spirit of the holidays, Pera will donate the equivalent of 10% of your food and beverage bill to a charity of your choice.  More information at: www.peranyc.com.

John Dory Oyster Bar:

Not exactly the place to go for a ‘Feast of Seven Fishes,’ the new John Dory Oyster Bar at the Ace Hotel is where Chef de Cuisine Josh Even will be serving up a six-course menu of aquatic favorites on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  For $65/person, the prix fixe menu includes a Hog Island Sweetwater Oyster holiday special served with Sea Urchin Crema.  The seafood-centric menu is available by reservation only. www.thejohndory.com.

Riverpark:

Beautiful views of the East River compliment Tom Colicchio’s newest destination for modern American cuisine.  In honor of Christmas Eve, a lavish three-course dinner for $95 per person will feature lobster, Wagyu beef, foie gras, caviar and truffles, plus a striking array of holiday-oriented desserts.  Reservations are available from 5 to 10pm and must be made in advance. Unusual for a Manhattan restaurant, free parking is available in the building's garage. www.riverparknyc.com
